1. Find Out the Next Steps

Ask an interviewer about the next steps in the hiring process. This allows you to establish realistic expectations about when you might hear back from a company.

Let the interviewer know that you are happy to provide any additional information to help them evaluate your candidacy, too. In doing so, you can make it easy for an interviewer to gain insights into your background and expertise so he or she can make an informed hiring decision.

2. Review the Interview Results

Make a list of the questions you were asked during an interview, along with the responses you provided. Create this list right away — because the longer you wait to do so, the more likely it becomes that you’ll forget interview questions that were asked or responses that you provided.

Every interview provides a learning opportunity, and you can review the interviewer’s questions and your responses to see if there is a potential fit for both sides. You can also use this information to help you prepare for a follow-up interview or future interviews with other companies.

3. Reach Out to the Hiring Manager
