1. Assess Your Job Performance

Ultimately, you’ll want to do your best to fulfill your everyday job responsibilities — if you fail to do so, you are not yet ready to take on additional responsibility. On the other hand, if you consistently meet or exceed your everyday goals, you are ready to ask for more responsibility.

Examine your company’s everyday needs, along with your skills and education. Identify any weak points in your business — and how you can help your company transform any weaknesses into strengths. Then, craft a strategy that outlines how you can help your company address various weaknesses.
3. Meet with Your Manager
Discuss your desire to take on additional responsibility at work with your manager. Schedule a face-to-face meeting with your manager and make a list of bullet points that describe what you want to say before the meeting. Next, make your case for more responsibility to your manager, and listen to what your manager has to say.
4. Stay Positive
There is no guarantee that your manager will agree to provide you with more responsibility at work right away. Give your manager time to consider your request and accept your manager’s decision. Regardless of what happens, continue to work diligently and try to maintain a positive outlook.
5. Provide Regular Updates
If your manager provides you with more responsibility at work, offer regular updates as you tackle new tasks. Be honest with your manager, and if you feel overwhelmed, let your manager know.
