"Being recognized like that, it means a lot," Marcus said. "It tells me I'm on the right path and doing the right things."

Horace didn't have a lot of career options since he didn't own a car, and there weren't a lot of job openings close to home. Regardless, Horace persevered, found a job, and walked to work early in the morning. 

"I was extremely happy and grateful when I got the job," Horace noted. "It was a chance to prove myself and grow."

Horace always arrived on time for his job. He was always prepared to do everything within his power to contribute and learn. 

Ascend Staffing named Horace as its Employee of the Month in February 2024. 

"That recognition was really meaningful to me," Horace said. "It showed me that hard work really pays off."

In addition, Horace eventually earned enough money to buy a car. 

"No more walking to work unless I want to for exercise," Horace pointed out.
